3rd Grade vocabulary example

As promised, here is an example of vocabulary and homework. This was distributed in January, so about the middle of 3rd grade. As you can see if you can read somewhat, there is a mix of easy to mid-level vocabulary. But more challenging sentence/expression structures are appearing.

These weekly vocabularies and such are not the whole of the vocabulary that the students are acquiring. They are introduced as embedded in a story from their textbook. They are studied with focus each week - a lot of writing and skill development goes into these characters/expressions. They are required comprehend their usage in the textbook and demonstrate that comprehension through various exercises, including building their own sentences. Stroke order and pinyin are also emphasized for these characters/vocabularies.

These exercises do not include the math vocabulary, nor any vocabulary that comes from reading and book report or essay or poetry assignments.

Below, this worksheet asks that the vocabulary are filled in. Comprehension is supported further because the sentences are not from the story, but show the vocabulary used in another situation.
